St. Padre Pio Friary and Parish, Simonbadi, Orissa

St. Padre Pio Friary is located about 175km from Berahampur. The friars here with collaboration of FC Sisters run a small school for the tribal. They also run both boys and girls boarding. There are about 180 children in the school. The economic solidarity has supported to build the school. It’s a tribal area and the people are economically very poor. They depend on the rains and cultivate rice. The environment and climate is very good but the people are not able to cultivate much as there is no marketing facilities.
The arrival of the Capuchins here has brought some hope to the people. The starting of the school was wise and clever move as the children could be educated and then they could stand on their own feet. The boarding is another ministry where the Catholic children are formed and taught the basics of Catholicisim. The sisters contribution is big and they do paly a big role in carrying out the mission.

The morning Prayer and Mass together.....

After the Holy Mass all gather to salute Mother Mary....wonderful.....all stop to say Hail.....Mary

The future of this place is being shaped and carved out in the school......these are few students who have come early to the boarding as they lack facilities at home....school starts next week...

Three young friars....united and working together.....full of hopes and waiting to change Mission of course with our support and prayers.......

A small grotto of Mother Mary catches the attention of every passerby....it is on the main road...
School building looks big but not many class rooms....
