Mercy: To respect the Human Being

Mercy is just not doing some acts of charity or being useful to someone in difficulties but much more than that. The whole life of Jesus was an act of Mercy. He touched and healed all those who came to Him. He respected and loved the human beings. For him the center of his mercy and compassion was the human person. He loved all of them in their conditions. He never despised or insulted them because they did something wrong. He was there for them at every moment and situation. Human person also responded to all his love and compassion. He went to all of them in spite of their status. He did not see their back grounds or did or said something that would offend them.
There are many people who dig the past or make a a reference a persons family background while relating or doing something. Sometimes you can see that a person of higher rank or. Class would not associate with those lowly ones because they have no name and fame. Sometimes the poor and margilanzed are ignored completely. Sometimes you see people suffering or sick but no care shown to them as they belong to a lower class. An accident takes place and very few people volunteer to help, may be due to the laws which might demand many things from us as witness, it be a huge hassle sometimes.
I have known some families who take care of animals. As Capuchin Franciscan I appreciated and encourage them. I have heard them saying that the pets are like their children or family members. As a parish priest one night a parishioner came with his dead pet to be buried in the cementry. He was willing to do anything. He was crying so much that I was not able to console him. The same lovers of animals who spent good monies for the pets are not able to look at another human being in need. We are not able to distinguish between two. I don't say that we should not look after animals. We must reach out to them. But human person what about him. Let us respect them. Sometimes the domestic workers are not treated well. They are valued for their work. They are not the members of the family though they do everything for the family. They keep everything clean in our homes. They are sometimes show more care and concern to our children than we ourselves.
