Mercy: To be Human and see Face of Jesus in Others

When i studied theology in Mysore as a fulfillment of the Theological studies we had to write a scientific paper under the guidance of a Professor. I had been thinking about the theme and was not able to find one. While on vacation to one famous town which is a tourist hub and also a centre of Culture. This little town is known also for Communication, business, industries, Rich and poor. There are also those who are very poor and have no name and fame. As all over the world the trend is that the rich are getting richer and the poor are becoming poorer.

Br. Alejandro receives a warm and fraternal welcome after his vacations at home. He spent time with his ailing Father. He returned to the Curia yesterday....brought joy and cheer to the fraternity.
The main city bus depot is very busy bus stand------from the close by cities and towns people keeping puring in and out. The city is usual very busy and does not stop at all. During my short stay there i came across one incident which has left a very strong impression on my life. This year being the year of Mercy this incident came to my mind this morning during the meditation. I thought of sharing with you. As i was walking around the town, on a small bridge which connected the bus stand and the main land i saw a man covered with lot of flies and dirt around. A foul smell was emnating from his body. That bridge is used by thousands of people every day but no one paid attention to him. He was lying there in pain and suffering for almost four days. Some good smaritans called up to the Police and the Police in turn informed sisters of Mother Teresa. The sisters came with their ambulance and picked him up, half dead. Everyone it seems was surprised to know that he was one their own from the locality. He was rejected and abandoned by his own family.
Finally the mercy and compassion of God was shown to him through the Charity of Mother Teresa's sisters. We fail to Jesus whom we proclaim boldly and loudly. We dont see his face and presence in all these unfortunate ones. His mercy and compassion has to be shown to all irrespective of class and color. We  need to be Human today in order to encounter the Lord who became human to be with us and to know and love us.
