What Next after CPO8?

Having organized a successful CPO 8 on the theme “The Grace of work”, with many friars getting involved in making it a success. The participation of 42 Friars from all four Continents, with a lot of expertise and the enthusiasm on part of the brothers, the question that comes to mind, what is next? Are we going to wait for a document to be received and then put it on the shelf or conduct few meetings and seminars for the provinces and custodies? Or are we going to implement and put them into practice? Are we go to make them effective by personally building a relationship with these wonderful and fraternal proposals? I am happy that we have conducted the CPO and boldly and courageously confronted the issues of Manual and other works. We have defined the mode of Capuchin work and are getting ready to come out with a document is only the start. Most of the Orders and congregations struggle to get their members to implement the proposals and decisions made during the Chapters and CPO.

We need to make it easier to follow these proposals that are easy to be practiced. We need to adopt a process in the province to make these proposals effective. We have to make these proposals user friendly and make them easier to follow in day today lives. We need more animation, more efforts and even animation to follow these proposals,,,, The implementation of the proposals should friars how to do the things they will have to do anyway.

The obligation on part of each province is to set expectations from the friars. There should be clear communication of clear implementation and responsibilities of each fraternity and friar to participate in this process of implementation. The friars must feel that they are getting into the grace of work. We are not called to stop work or feel frustrated because pastoral work is not available. With cooperation with the provincial council each friar can make himself an evangelizer today and be a missionary wherever we are…..
