A Cultural Evening ......

A "Kadodi" community from which i come celebrates every year a day of Cultural program and exhibition. It is a great success as it is celebrated on the next day of the Christmas. It is fun and good time for families and children too. Small children and youth are getting too fast westernized and in order to teach them our community's value and culture, this program does all that to promote the culture. Every year nothing less than 30-40 thousand people visit this cultural evening. Young and old wear traditional dresses and participate.....there are songs, dances and small skits on focus on preserving culture, Kadodi language and traditions....We have a lot of traditions for marriages which are slowly taking back seat. The old generation is not happy to see these good old and meaningful traditions not just respected. They are communicating with the youth to hold on to the language, culture and traditions.
This is how our women dressed up in olden days...today no more these dresses. You find them only for some functions and feasts .....

It is fun for the children and young ones admire all the old things.....as they go round to visit various stalls....food stalls are a big hit and other stalls representing old tradition draw a huge crowd...

Red dress ....given by the Portuguese missionaries....to distinguish catholics from non-catholics. a special dress and ornaments.....

This is how our old men dressed up some 30 years ago...there are some still....but these young ones are trying to revive it with a great desire...
Many priests and religious attend this function to encourage the organizers.....we are all given a red cap which our old men wore in the past....

Time to invoke God and ask for His blessings .......

This Sophia an handicapped young girl who has shown that nothing can stop and hinder to grow and soar high in the sky....she is born handicapped but has written books and poems which are all published....her proud parents tell her stories to other parents who consider their handicapped children as a burden....Sophia was honored with a shield and certificate....
