Fr. Pancratius Pinto passes away suddenly....a great human being

Fr. Pancratius Pinto whom I met in 1979 in Mumbai at Fratima Friary, as a young and energetic friar who was loved by students, teachers parents and parishioners. He made a great impression on me by his simple and humble life style. For me he was a perfect Capuchin as he lived a very authentic life. He lived what he practiced. In the school he was darling of all as he was a good mathematic and science teacher. He was a sportsman too. In the evening in Fatima campus he would run a free coaching classes for the poor and underprivileged students. He also coached the future sportsmen of Mumbai, free of cost.
In the parish as an assistant parish priest, he was known as”Shivaji Father”, Shivaji is an historical person from Maharashtra who fought against the enemies. He is the Father of Maharashtra, who always had a long beard. Br. Pancratius too had long beard like Shivaji Maharaj so people called him so….He being Mangalorean learnt Marathi and would preach fluently in the Parish.
I owe him a lot.  He guided me in my initial formation. I did my college from Fatima Friary and I was alone as a student. He would take care of me and also help me in my studies.
